Does eToro charge conversion fees?

As this broker’s default currency is USD, they don’t charge conversion fees on deposits in that currency. A number of other currencies are accepted, including RMB, THB, IDR, EUR, GBP, AUD, SEK, DKK, NOK, MYR, VND, and PHP. If you make a deposit in any of these, it will be converted to USD and a fee will be charged. You can see the exchange rate and the amount you’ll get in USD before making the deposit. This information is available on the Deposit Funds page.

Using CopyTrader

CopyTrader is eToro’s proprietary platform, which incurs neither hidden charges nor extra fees. The broker might apply spreads and an overnight fee depending on the copied positions opened. You can invest in thematic, leading, ready-made portfolios without paying any commission or management fees except those the broker charges on the assets within the respective portfolio. No commission is charged on stock portfolios.

eToro does not charge a deposit fee. There is a $5 withdrawal fee, which goes toward covering some international money transfer costs. The minimum withdrawal amount is set at $30. All deposits and withdrawals must be made in USD. Any other currency will be converted. The fees are based on the spread, starting from 50 pips.

Fee exemptions

Members of Diamond, Trustly, Sofort, and iDEAL are exempt from conversion fees if they use GBP, EUR, or AUD. There is no fee on deposits and withdrawals via bank transfer either. Members of Platinum and Platinum+ get 50% off.

Other fees

Depending on the position value, CFD positions that stay open overnight incur a small fee. In essence, this is an interest payment to compensate the leverage cost used. A weekend fee is three times the overnight fee because you’re keeping the position open for three nights. Depending on the asset, the broker charges weekend fees on Wednesday or Friday. International market conditions determine rollover fees.

Last but not least, users will see a position “loss” as soon as they open a new trade. This is because of the spread. The final spread calculation is done when the position is closed. Depending on the closing price, it is adjusted at that moment.
